    Correspondence Addresses

I am filing pro se and looking to create the creditor matrix/list of creditors and their mailing addresses.

On my most recent communications/statements with my creditors I cannot find their mailing addresses on the statement, or there are several addresses and it is unclear which one would be the proper address to use.

Perhaps this sounds like a silly question, but since I am doing it on my own... the only option that I am thinking of is calling the creditors (mostly credit cards) directly and asking them for their correspondence address. However, I understand they will probably ask me why I am requesting the correspondence address. Should I be weary of telling them over the phone that I am in the process of filing for bankruptcy and thus need their correspondence address?

Check the bank websites. Or check your State's Secretary of State website for an "agent for service of process"

You can also call them and not tell them who you are. My guess is you will probably get a touch tone system anyway that will lead you to a correspondence address.

Now that I am at a real computer, I checked your profile to see you are in Arizona. You can go to the Arizona Corporation Commission and search for an entity at http://ecorp.azcc.gov/Search

I search for "Citibank" and one of the results was Citicorp Credit Service Inc. If the fine print on statements or the back of a credit card have that name, then the address I would use is the address of the Statutory Agent. Here are the results: http://ecorp.azcc.gov/Details/Corp?corpId=F11014903

If you owe money to Bank of America National Association, the info is at http://ecorp.azcc.gov/Details/Corp?corpId=F08839877

Note that they both have the same Statutory Agent. Every corporation must have an agent located in states where they do business who is designated to accept service of legal documents on behalf of the corporation. CT Corporation is in the business of assisting with corporate filings and acting as agent for corporations. As long as you are sure you have the correct corporation, serving the Statutory Agent is effective service on the corporation.
