Starting business as bkty petition preparer

    Hello all,

I have a friend that represented herself in her uncontested divorce, then started her own business preparing the paperwork for uncontested divorces at $300 a pop.

Being that I have successfully (so far) represented myself in my Chapter 7 case that I converted to a Chapter 13, then back to a Chapter 7, then filed two adversary proceedings....I would like to use what I have learned to make money as well!

Is there still a market for bankruptcy petition preparers? What would I need to get started? How much should I charge?

Any info that you could share would be greatly appreciated.

Whats the difference between hiring a lawyer or a preparer. You would basically do everything an attorney would do?

Well good luck to you... You know as lazy as people are today there's always a business for something. And I did a lil search and u don't need much just know how to prepare each document.

Here is some info proving they need no licenses from what I have read. http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/r18/r_bpp.pdf
