    Sam's Club

I have been reading here for a few weeks and have learned a wealth of information which has been a great help as we have faced the devastating fact that bankruptcy is our only option, and this has helped us begin the process. I have one question that I haven't seen addressed, so thought I would ask. One of our creditors is Sam's Club, and after we file will our Sam's membership survive? I don't mean the credit, but the membership so that we can continue to shop at Sam's with cash?

    Thanks.

It all depends on Sam's Club. I know that USAA is telling us that they're going to refuse to renew our auto and home insurance policies if we bk on our credit card we have with the savings bank arm of the company.

We'll have to see if that really happens or not.
    Filed Ch. 7 Pro-Se: 10/12/06

    Discharge: 1/12/07
    Closed:1/19/07

Hi Susie, we had a sams club credit line in my name, it was added to our bk and closed... after discharge, we opened a new sams club membership in my hubbys name just the membership no credit and we pay with cash and had no problem opening one. hope this helps.....

It seems like the membership itself should survive, since it is paid in full for a year at a time. Look up the terms on samsclub.com if you have any concerns.

Thanks for your replies. I did look at the terms on samsclub.com before posting here, but found nothing that remotely concerned my question. I was just wondering if anyone has had a Sam's membership that survived bankruptcy on a Sam's credit account. I guess when the time comes I could try it, but would really like to avoid the embarrassment of being denied my purchase in the checkout line if at all possible.

Thanks everyone. Really appreciate everyone here.

You should be fine with your membership. I too had a Sam's Club credit card that was discharged in my bankruptcy. I've been able to use my card (without the credit of course) with the membership alone. Even after I couldn't afford to pay the bill, there was never an issue with using it in Sam's. In the beginning I was afraid, but I just said, what the heck. Never had a problem. Like I said, you should be fine. The membership will survive as long as you continue to renew your membership. It's funny that my card is still identified as credit, but without the credit benefits.
