Hi! I was wondering if anyone knew anything about personal bankruptcy and business ownership. I do business as a dba (sole proprietor) and I believe if and when I file bankruptcy, my business needs to be closed.
I anticipate moving on with my life and re-opening a business or starting another one. Is there a time period before I could do this or would we be able to move on with life even after filing? I saw a clause in the bankruptcy forms in my state which said that "responsible for all debt incurred before the filing...". Could it mean that we could possibly go about our business: open a new account (banking), start a business (apply for GE License), etc.? Sounds unlikely that one would do it, but what if you are self-employed and need to do this? What are the suggestions as far as job/income is concerned?
