Just curious, what was abandoned? That is great news though!
The house-we did not need to exempt it because we owe about $230K and it was appraised at $220K, so no surprise there. I am hopeful that the real estate uptick will continue and that we'll be back in positive territory in about five years or so. We did not reaffirm of course, but we do want to keep the house and at least for right now it seems much more doable now that the other debts have been wiped out.
was your house your only asset or what was thought to be an asset?
Yep-cars, personal property, savings bonds, and cash were all well under our exemptions since we went federal and were able to put our unused homestead exemption to good use.
