I had to laugh. Big bank not paying attention

So, I just got done converting my CH13 to a CH7, discharged and closed. Part of my CH13 was to strip my 2nd mortgage with a large Bank in and/or of America. They received one partial payment from the CH13 trustee before I converted. I recently received a letter from that bank that they were "forgiving" my mortgage and they were going to release the lien. I also received a letter and a check in the mail stating that they received a "partial payment" and they were unable to accept a partial payment on my account. Since I never made up the difference they are returning that money to me. Man, they showed me. So now, I have a discharged 2nd mortgage that is about to be forgiven AND they gave me back the only money that they received from me (through the trustee) over the last 3 years. Funny stuff.

Anybody else have something like this happen? It really is like a comedy of errors.

Something very similar happened to me after I was discharged and had sold my house in a short sale. I received a check in the mail from my mortgage company equal to one month's mortgage payment. Confused, I called the mortgage company (Fifth Third) and asked what the money was for. All the representative could tell me was that they had a record that my account had been closed and I was owed the money.

Bear in mind that I hadn't payed several months' worth of mortgage payments before filing AND I sold my home in a short sale and had the deficiency discharged - in other words, my economic woes cost Fifth Third probably about $30,000 in lost mortgage payments - and they were giving ME money!! I asked the rep one more time if she was sure this was legitimate, not a mistake, etc. - she was sure. So I cashed the check and enjoyed the money. Thanks Fifth Third! You suckers!!
