I filed for CH 7 at the end of Feb, all my accounts are closed but Paypals "Bill me later" remains open and active. It was included in the petition because its clearly listed there. Is there a reason they would remain open and active WITH a balance and not be closed? Thanks!

Mine is like that too! Shows balance and a past due balance on the main page on my Paypal account. Annoying but there is nothing active or negative on my actual credit report from them.

LOL, it didn't help you much but you are welcome! I do wonder at times if this is a violation of the discharge injunction.

ETA: My account is closed on my CB files as far as I can tell.

My account was closed but I keep getting the bill showing my discharged balance and fees on my Paypal screen. Are you 100% sure yours is really open? Like tried to use it?

Trying to collect a discharged balance may be a violation - not sure - so that is why I wonder LOL That sounds blonde, huh?

i havent tried to use it, but maybe i will go in and look at that. Just by looking at the screen it still looks open. It shows an available balance, I will check into it though! Thanks

We have a small Paypal account from before we filed, and it is still alive and well some years after our discharge, August 13, 2008. There was never very much in it at the time we filed, and it mostly stays empty. Right now it has $12.90 in it. This was never questioned. We never have really done anything with it yet.

We don't have the 'Bill Me Later' feature. They won't let us have it because we refuse to give our street address. I insist on using the postal box.

Do you have to list paypal account even if you don't sell anything only buy things

Im unsure if you have to list paypal, i believe if you have "Bill me later" you definantly have to list that because thats a line of credit.

Petition would only list Paypal itself if you have a positive balance from selling items or services or from anyone who paid money into it for your benefit.

'Bill Me Later' is a line of credit issued by GE Money Bank. If you use this you can make monthly payments to them at a ridiculous interest rate for purchases from participating vendors. If you owed them money at the time of filing, you would list them as a creditor on your petition.

Interesting. I just signed all my paperwork 2 days ago and I have a BillMeLater account in the list of creditors.
I have been getting robo-calls from them daily at 10:00 AM to remind me of my past-due balance.
I will be glad when those stop.
