    Bank Account Question

    Hi all,

I want to first thank this site for being a great resource during this stressful time.

My question is in regards to my bank accounts. I am in Private Banking at a bank and have been for over 10 years. In my Non-consumer BK 7, I am including debts to this bank of over $100k including a credit card and various personal lines of credit. Because of this, I switched banks before filing from the recommendations from this site and moved all my money to a new bank. The old bank now holds less than $100 in the various accounts I have with them. Once the BK is completed, and if my original bank has not closed my accounts, would I be able to start using my original bank again? I ask bc being in Private Banking, they do so much for me and makes banking much easier for my businesses. Once I get my discharge, am I safe in thinking they can not empty my accounts to offset the debts I discharged? Or do I still have the fear if I start using my original bank of them emptying the accounts to go toward the discharged debts.

Am I being wishful in my thinking...perhaps the bank once the discharge is completed will close the accounts? Thanks in advance for your help.

I would have to go with your thought that you're wishful thinking that they'd allow you new services after discharging so much with them, but one never knows. I know at the credit union I work for any sort of loss disqualifies a member from new services whatsoever.

As far as offsetting any current funds held in accounts towards the debts you'll want to review your account agreements and see if they have the right of offset to pre-petition funds.

Good luck in your future, do what's best for yourself and your family and you'll end up well!
