Spoke with an attorney today-good news so far...

I feel like I'm spamming the forum today but I feel compelled to share. I finally got up the nerve to call some of the attorneys I had found on the 'net. His secretary transferred me directly to him (its a sole practice) which I was impressed with. He asked a lot of questions about our situation and reassured me that we would be a textbook no-asset CH7. He was also impressed with what I knew about BK already in terms of exemptions, what a 341 meeting is, etc...which of course I owe all to this site I started out the conversation fairly tense (I was also in a back room at work trying to make sure no one heard me), but talking over our situation with him gave me an overwhelming sense of relief. Since he confirmed a lot of things that I already sort of knew (we'll be a no asset case, we have more than enough exemptions, it's a good idea to buy a car, stock up on food, etc...) it was very calming. I finally feel as though we're going to be OK, even though we have a long road ahead of us. I also spoke with him about the fact that my wife is having a hard time coming to terms with stopping payment on her cards-he assured me that he'll have her convinced that she should have stopped paying yesterday given the predicament we're in. Our consultation is Saturday-I'll update everyone then.

Look, from what I've read in your posts you guys sound like a cookie-cutter-60-days-no-surprises-Ch.7 and as long as no one (that includes the attorneys) does anything stupid, you'll be laughing at all of this stress in several months.

        Good luck to us all.
No person in their right mind files a Ch. 13 with lien strip pro se. I have. Therefore, please consider me insane and clinically certifiable when reading my posts, and DO NOT take them as legal advice of any kind.Thank you.

Thanks Shark-I know your standard disclaimer says that you're insane and clinically certifiable, but I consider you to be one of the experts around here so that makes me feel a lot better!
