The allowable operating costs for my region is $244 (I'm in the South). I spend $95 on auto insurance each month, so that just leaves $149 for gas ($37.25/week). But, I need at least $40 per week, which puts me about $11 over the allowable budget. And, that's right now, with the cost of gas being relatively "low". Who knows how much it will cost next week, or next month. And, that doesn't leave room for routine maintenance.
And, I don't even live in a very expensive city. I used to live in Atlanta, so I know that insurance costs twice as much there, and gas is at least ten cents more per gallon.
Do they really expect us to keep it within such a small budget? It just seems a bit unreasonable, to me. Or is it the $40/week for gas that's unreasonable?
