So - should we get totally new bank accounts???????

    Hi,

We have bank accounts at two different credit unions. One is where the debt management payment comes out - we will close that account as we really don't like that CU anyway.

The other CU we have checking & savings and overdraft protection (which we used recently and will be zero balance when we get paid next week). So, when we file the overdraft protection loan will be zero when we file end of Dec or beginning of Jan. So, is it OK to keep that our accounts at that CU, or should we just start "fresh" somewhere else?

Anyone in Indiana that has any recommendations on good CU's would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Lynn

Other than O.D. protection, do you have any loan at that CU? If not keep the account but DO NOT use the O.D. loan. Not one 'red' penny of it. Once filed, understand that they could and probably will freeze it, so you might ask them if they will do this. Keep a low balance until the filing and see what goes. They may not do this if you have no loans with them but they will probably close the O.D. feature anyway. I live in FL and my CU is in Dayton Ohio, and I am more than satisfied with it. Been with them for 45 years.

We switched all our accounts to banks where we had no loans about 3 months prior to filing and had no problems with our accounts post filing. I think that move is independent of the state you live in.
