Divorcing to get away from husbands debt.....

I am worried! We have individual credit, nothing together except for the home we bought in november, with no equity in it.
We have a small business, last year we netted only $3500. Together we only filed for $21k for the year. But lately we have been making a little bit more.
By no means can he afford to make payments on his 65k in credit debt.
Would a divorce protect me,the business, and home? Or would it cause more problems. He said he would do anything to protect me.
Please help me I want to protect my credit and my life!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I posted in Ch 7 Section of the Forum. You can look there for what I said.

my husband and I are in the same boat. I filed alone, as long as you don't have any accounts or are authorized user then it won't affect your credit. Now the house i don't know (we ren) I was told my by lawyer that if it you get divorced then file BK or get divorced during, sometimes it looks fishy. But as long as you have no joint accoutns together it won't affect you. i would go see a lawyer from before you go jumping to conclusions and ruining a good marriage. (One mistake I almost did) JM .02

AAlso maybe you need to rephrase your last statement, proctect ur life, someones life is not ruined becasue of BK. I am so much less stressed since I filed so is my hubby.

Yes it does and its a shame. But if a relationship is strong enough things will be tough but ya get thru it. My hubby said the same thing that he wondered if a divorce will protect his credit, but once he talked to the lawyer he realized he has nothing to worry about. I was devistaed when he said this. But he says no matter what he will stand by me and work with me on this and help me manage my money better (hes good at that) and we've only been married 3 years, but he said that it was for better or worse, richer or poorer. He'll live by the vowels he made.

            Oh, man... I'm sorry... I can't resist...

            Which vowels did he make? A E I O AND U or just A E I and O?

Or was he really romantic and do all of those and add in Y?

But I needed that laugh today. Our bus got a flat tire on the way in and it started the day off on the wrong foot.

Aw, don't be mad Minny. I didn't mean no harm. It's obviously just a typo that they made... but it was too much for someone with my limited self control to resist!

Sorry, Minny and mystiquemia--it was all meant in fun. No harm intended.

(And 30 miles was too far to walk into work.)

Its not like i have enough stress form this whole BK, but theres butts like you out there. Like you never made a mistake in your life. So much for the fat lie about a caring board. Thanks for nothing. Ill never come back again. And my maim language is English, but I am Trilingual.

                            wow... pardon me!

Really, as I mentioned above, I was only trying to be funny... I know it was just a typo... I even SAID that I know it was just a typo.

Normally when I've accidentally stepped on someone’s feelings, I feel really bad.... and I still do a bit for obviously bothering you with my joke.

But you know... YOU could have also read my response to Minny and realized that it was just intended as a joke and not intended to offend. YOU could have just responded that you didn't appreciate the humor and I would have just apologized.

Instead, you make it sound like I just gave you your last reason to kill yourself, you insult me directly and then take my one comment and extrapolate it out to call the ENTIRE board "uncaring" and proclaim that you'll never come back again.

I'm tempted to say, (and I'm sure I'll get a lot of flack from others on the board for it), "Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out."

But I don't want you to leave. I want you to be able to get the help you need and want. Hell, I even want to be able to HELP you if I can in some small way, but if you're going to take offence and fly off the handle at the first sign of something you don't like? You won't last too long anyway.

Oh, last comment? If you're going to use your last sentence to point out how incredibly talented you are with languages? I'd avoid posting thinks like:

"And my maim language is English, but I am Trilingual."

For what it's worth, I am sorry that what I said bothered you, but at the same time, YOUR response bothers me and comes across as annoying, juvenile and absurd. Are you going to apologize to ME now? Somehow I doubt it.
