Well, I have called the attorney for a free consultation! Needed to since I was served a summons on my lunch hour at home today (Cap One). I am freaking out a little and was hoping for some words of encouragement. How did you stay calm during this process? I'm to the point that I am just tired of it all anymore and want to start fresh. Thanks for any advice and encouragement you may have!! This forum has been a a wonderful source of information

I stayed calm after one key word: acceptance. Accept that is a business decision, accept that is the right thing for you, and accept that with the proper planning, honesty and organization, all will go well.
It is a stressful time indeed, not many know or understand what we are or have gone through, but post-discharge is such an enormous feeling of relief.
I was served with a summons as well, that was my final straw...
Good luck to you!Chapter 7 Filed: 04/21/2011, 341 Meeting: 05/31/2011, Report of No Distrubution: 06/02/2011, Discharged: 08/03/2011, Closed: 08/10/11

Last year that's what finally motivated me to do something about filing bk, that 2 creditors had given me their summons. Then lucky me, a pre-trial for one, and a trial for the other was scheduled on the same day! :-)
Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, you will get through it. Good luck.

I had my first meeting with a bk attorney yesterday. He looked at my "assets" (which are none) vs my debt (large pre-divorce credit cards) and my single parent income, paused a moment, looked at me and said that bk is really my best option. Just knowing that there's a light at the end of the tunnel is helping me breath better and I actually had a decent nights sleep last night. I want to thank everyone who shared their story on this forum for giving me the courage to take this huge step. I can only help that my experience might help someone else as well.

Thanks to all of you!! Just got off the phone with the attorney and he said CHp 7 would be easy...he didn't seem to see any issues. He was very helpful and ready to take the case. What a relief!! I may actually sleep tonight. THe next step is coming up with the filing fees. First face to face meeting is Sept. 1. Again, thanks to all of you!
