I will soon be filing chapter 13 and have a student loan that is in deferment. It is not delinquent and will be deferred for some time. Do i have to include this in the repayment plan or can it continue to be handled separate from the plan?

It my case, co-signed student loans I have with my kids (some are in deferment) will be in my C13 plan, and after five years any remaining balance will be due.
My attorney did this, and my thought (haven't researched this yet) is that by putting the loans in the plan it will lessen the amount of my C13 payment to unsecured creditors since the loans will get some pro-rated amount. Since my income will determine my C13 payment, it would be the same regardless if the student loans are included or not. After 5 years any balance still due on the student loans are payable in full. Less amount to unsecured creditors which go away when discharged, more amount to student loans I still will owe on after discharge.
