Bk is just a business decision. Do you think the powers that be at GM and Chrysler or all of the airlines that have filed bk or, Donald Trump when he filed a Chapter 11 for Trump Casinos was worried about diginity?
At the end of the day, we're all good capitalist and will proceed in a manner that reflects our best interest. Don't take bk personally-it's just business.
Most bk lawyers will give a free or lowcost initial consultation. Speak with a few and get all of your options explained.

As to your dignity, it sounds as if you don't have any to speak of now, so get over it, make that business decision, and reclaim your life. There is nothing wrong with following the laws provided by our founders and regaining your life and your dignity back.
No one can take your dignity. You must surrender that.......

Welcome. As others have said, it's a buisness decision. Most folks here will tell you it's a big relief. I feel much better now that I am filed and waiting for discharge. I didn't lose anything I owned and feel so much better. Hopefully you will too.
Good luck!Filed CH 7 4/15/11
