    SSDI direct deposit

Does anyone know how to put a stop on SSDI direct deposit? Has anyone done this? Can this be done over the phone? Thanks

I changed my direct deposit on line. In fact, did everything on line. Are you talking about putting in a stop payment type action? In that case I would call asap.

The SSDI is exempt from garnishment or seizure so that shouldn't be a worry. But to answer your question we changed our direct deposit regular SS in line.

you can call it into SSA or change it online, however you simply cannot "stop" payments all together; you must have another account you are changing to - OR - you must change it to their new debit card payment.

It takes on average 30-60 days to get it all completed/transferred over.

What the OP is wanting to do is receive a check in the mail instead of having it deposited directly in the bank. The Social Security Administration tries to discourage it, but they cannot refuse to cut a check. All you have to do is put in your request - but it does take time.
