    Creditor Addresses

    1. What do I use for the creditor address matrix, the address for making payments, or the address they give for account inquiries?

    2. If the account is closed out and sent to a collection agency, what address do I use then? The collection agency or the address of the credit card company?

The attny we're using wants any and every address we have for each and every creditor. I've seen several addresses for each one.

There's one address for the CC on your Credit Report.

There's the payment mailing address, the credit dispute address and/or other communications address each billing statement.

The letters we've been getting have totally different addresses on them as well. It's unreal.

But the paralegal said the attny will send a mailing to every address he has on record to avoid the "We didn't get properly notified" excuses from the CC's.

What address to list on your Creditor Matrix,.............. I don't know what to tell you.

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.

My attorney stated that the court just wants to verify you made good faith effort on listing the correct address (I filed under old law though)

So, I pulled my credit report, and whatever address was listed in creditors or inquiries that is what I put on my petition... If the court would have balked at anything, I would explain that I pulled my report and to the best of my knowledge I was giving accurate addresses and information...

I don't know if new law is different...

My attorney said we will use the billing address since that is the most widely used address posted on the statements. He said if there was ever a problem they( we) could dispute that we informed them in good faith.

In my matrix our(me and DW) attorney used every address he could get a hold of. I think each of our creditors had 3-4 addresses if they were large companies(Chase, Citi) and 2-3 in they were small(medical, collections). Seemed to work.

We were told we only need the original creditor address and the inquiry address was preferred. In reading the back side of the bills, I found some even had BK specific addresses.

Almost every credit card bill has two addresses, the payment center address and a customer service address. List the customer service address. They will then forward anything of such importance to wherever and whoever it is supposed to go to. Never use the billing address - they only process payments.
