Question If you have lost your home, where are you living while recovering?

I see so many empty houses that were newly placed, built or occupied and are now vacant. I hear from Govmint that we are recovering so very well. I cannot see this, but I see we are better off than many but have applied for food stamps. What is everyone else doing? Please give a short description of your challenges. 'Hub and Mrs. C.

I didn't lose my home, but while laid off I moved in with my parents. My lease was up and it took all my unemployment and savings just to pay my expenses for the last three months of the lease. What I hoped would only be a few months turned into a year. Ironically, a year and a half later my parents lost their house and had to file BK. We found a retirement apartment for them that's subsidized by the state. Moving was horrible for them, but we got through it... they are starting to recover now. It's been six months and my mom is finally off the anxiety meds.

Wow to both above. One thing sure though, it gets better after it gets worse. We are now feeling a pinch with this fuel thing and UC is being considerably poor due to their paperwork. I don't really complain as we have been on this thing for almost three years. It was "mana' from Heaven, so we are not complaining. My complaint is everything is now going up. Yes. I sure do. I also know what 666 means. Remember I was a pioneer in UPC scanning. The three sync characters before in the middle and in the end of a type "A" (the large scan) is a binary "6" 0110. Check it out. All "A" codes have this to sync a scanner speed to the size of the UPC label. 'Bammy, is he ................

when the binary sum is greater then 1001, the addition of binary 6(0110) to the binary sum converts it to the correct BCD representation and ??????? just give me the soma...LOL!!! hand it over and lets stop being brilliant! ROFL!!!

huxley's novel was famous at a time when it was considered a factious "future" novalistic view of the future...the novel was called a "Brave New World"...it was required reading for most of us "old" folk.

most would consider it a literary "masterpiece" or NOT for it's time. ....and

ps. it was referring to the very first computer use and it's tech. language.

The economic situation really isn't a republican or democrat thing. I wish people wouldn't use this board for that kind of division. The government has both positive and negatives, generally because that's how humans are - good and bad. And, it's obvious our current economic situation didn't just appear - it took us many years of leadership by different presidents and representatives to get here. At least our government provides bankruptcy as some help to those who hit difficult times. Too bad the creditors got to write the bankruptcy laws in 2005, making it more expensive and complicated for people to get that help.

I couldn't agree with Tobee more!! If you haven't read Brave New World in school (I had to!) PLEASE read it - it's probably a buck and a half on amazon or bn.com - also in the same vein highly recommended '1984' - same price range.

i guess today it's relativity wouldn't be as poignant??? one would think...since we are in "that" future!
