No liens on property- is all our debt unsecured?

    Hi again guys,

Thx so much for answering my question from earlier today. In one of the answers, frogger said that we could safely stop paying unsecured debt.

We did a judgment and lien search on our property, and it was found that there were no liens on the property. This means that all our debt must be unsecured, correct?

Sorry for posting multiple questions today. We are very confused and a bit overwhelmed.

Thanks again for all your help.

if the property has no mortgage then it's unsecured.

Sorry, to clarify, the only lien on the property is the mortgage- but we have other loans and credit cards, and wanted to verify that those debts are unsecured (that the property cannot be taken by those creditors)

Your unsecured creditors would be required to sue you, obtain judgment, and then they could place a lien on your property. As to taking it, the answer is no.

Bankruptcy is a process, not an event.......
