Question pawning items during BK

Is it alright if it's under a certain amount without having the trustee notified about it? I plan on getting it back payday but that is 2 weeks away and I need extra money now. I'm laid off for 2 weeks every Christmas which means not much money for the first payday at the beginning of the year. Before anyone mentions budgeting better, I didn't plan on being in BK so late in the year, but now I have all year to budget for next December.
