No. I'm staying and paying. I just fell behind after having two surgeries last year and other half being out of work.

Well, I can understand why you wanted to get the mortgage current by using your 401K. I know a lot of people think it was a bad idea, and perhaps it was.... but maybe the peace of mind is more valuable to you than the money you took out? I am being honest here, I probably would have done the same thing if I had exhausted all other options.

Two surgeries explains a lot. Medical was our final straw when COBRA ran out and my wife lost her job and medical then I got the big "C" and operations etc. I don't remember you stating that in the original post, but it would have explained much on the emergency withdrawal. I hope you have healed well and now have an income. Best to you and have a better New Year. 'Hub

we are doing a stay and pay too... but I have never been late on our mortgage payments. I actually pay the mortgage first and then everything else is taken care of after. If anything has to be late it would be electric, phone, cable internet.... or super cheap meals. I do a lot of meals differently these days. The husband doesn't like it, but people eat far more than what they really need. I cut back on meat, increased greens and do pasta once a week to extend meat. If I make Tacos, I will buy a little more burger and add to the left over meat and then make either nachos or taco salad. Then from the head of lettuce (actually i will buy romaine if it is on sale) I will steal about a quarter of those leaves and make BLT sandwiches and heat up some soup. I always always integrate left overs. I plan things that way and it saves money. I buy what I can from save a lot. What I can't I buy from walmart. I make my grocery list based on what is on sale at those different stores. I have found the place that I can save money from is our food bill.

This summer I will plant my own garden and try to plan meals on that. I also found someone to sell me a quarter of a cow for 400 dollars. That is 200 pounds of meat, cut any way I want. So, with the savings that I have made on the grocery shopping from this past 6 months, I can pre buy all my meat which will last us a very long time because I have cut back on how much beef my family eats. We also eat venison which is very good for you.... Not sure why I got off on this tangent??? Oh, yeah.... because the one place where you can adjust your budget for extra funds is right in your grocery bill.
I have even made my own laundry soap. LOL

Hub, sorry to hear about the Big C. I had a pre-c polyp removed along with a couple of female parts, and two months prior to that had the gall bladder and appendix out. Now I'm going through the Big M while being broke! I don't know how my other half puts up with me. LOL

Dneil - I eat so much chicken that I think I'm going to turn into one. We do a summer garden every year. I'm trying to grow tomatos right now in my mudroom turned greenery, but so far, no fruit flowers yet, but they are growing.

Anyway, sorry I didn't mention the surgeries in the beginning, it was for the sake of brevity, and the desire to move pass the illness bullcrap. Yes, the 401K was my last option. To add more insult to injury, my father passed a couple of months ago, and he signed everything of his over to a sibling I've been estranged from for 8 years, and she has advised everyone his money is "hers". I would have had to disclaim it if anything was given to me anyway, as I had just filed, but that's another story. My 401K Plan said they're going to "investigate" how they screwed up and let me know by tomorrow they're "result". My lender has recorded my payment. My attorney said the lender's attorney hasn't withdrawn yet, but probably will. I just have to be available for the hearing just in case. I just want this year to end, and a nice speedy discharge and closure!
