We did a BK7 - Had the 341 - Awaiting Discharge on Pacer ---NOW we need Jobs -- Help

Hubby has been looking since he was donwsized in March of this year. He spend hours at the library. (no job = no home internet).

Hubby is 52 and has had about 12 interviews and many have gone to 3 to 4 interviews for the same position and he has yet to get a job offer.

I still have my job but the company is looking to move their operation to China so my manager told me that we all probably have 6 months before our jobs go away. I have been searching for 4 months and have had interviews but no job offers as well.

Our state has the 2nd highest unemployment rate in the country and we really have no money to move elsewhere in hopes of finding a job in another state.

Does anyone have any suggestions on job search's?

    thanks

I am sorry to hear about your situation. I am a 99er myself. I was never given a warning about my job cut so I am grateful at least you have some time to start looking. One recommendation I can give you is to always stay positive. It's very easy to become depressed, especially in the situation you describe where someone goes on multiple interviews with a company and still doesn't get the job. This has happened to me a lot and really makes me angry when it happens. I think about all the time and money I invest in a company interview or multiple interviews and they may have considered me #2 (even if their #1 choice ends up getting terminated in 6 months, I don't automatically get to be the new #1 choice, so I have to start all over again).

Just keep trying and stay positive (you both will eventually find a job).

Thank you, I have been getting depressed and snapping at hubby. I guess with the holidays just days away and for the first time in my life not being able to have a decent christams with my family has / had been making me very depressed.

I need to focus not so much on everything that I have lost but what I still have and to say focused on that and stay POSITIVE.

thank you for getting me back on track

I argue with my girlfriend frequently over money. I get really cheap sometimes when she is buying groceries. I often am cheap with birthday and christmas presents as well. Both my girlfriend and I don't work and she doesn't get unemployment benefits, so this really stretches my dollar and sometimes creates arguments. It's also tough at Christmas and other holidays to hear my other family members talk about their investments, trips they have taken to other countries or are about to take, listening to them talking or bragging about their accomplishments at work. I used to be rich and held high end positions, now I have to listen to that kind of talk or argue with my father about not working, filing bk, etc.

So staying positive is an extreme challenge. I do harp on those negatives, but keep the positives in control at the same time. I learn to really appreciate the holidays, enjoy watching programs like Christmas cartoons and funny christmas specials. I enjoy looking at the xmas lights, etc. And know that eventually things will get better.
