Question Student Loan in Forbearance due to BK Filing?

Went online to make my monthly student loan payment, and it said that no payment was due. Dug a little deeper, and found out the loan is in forbearance from 10/26/10 (the day of our BK filing) until 4/24/11.

Does this happen automatically because of the BK filing? Should I go ahead and make the payment anyway (I was planning to). We already had a forbearance once on this loan earlier this year.

    Not sure what to do???

I have a SL with Sallie Mae. My attorney told me that I couldn't include it in the bankruptcy but Sallie Mae would not pursue payment while I was in active bankruptcy. After my BK is closed it's open game. She said I can make payments on it now or wait until my case is closed to start making payments.

I can't make online payments either. I can mail or make one over the phone. You may want to try that.

This is pretty standard fare for student loans. I have one through Citibank - it went into administrative forbearance when I filed. Once I had been discharged, they resumed billing as normal (actually, my payments went down by about $12). The way they did mine was that I could mail in payments on the interest if I wanted, or they could just roll the interest in to the loan balance once payments started again. Payments weren't required during the forbearance period.
      Filed: 6/30/2010
      341: 7/26/2010
      Discharged: 10/6/2010
