Here's what you should do, based on my own experience. File a Chapter 7 and wipe out the debt. The house, jointly owned, will not be touched because you will be reaffirming your part of the debt. The boyfriend, who isn't filing, will be untouched by your BK.
Unless you have some property you are afraid of losing to the trustee, a Chapter 7 is the best idea for you. I wouldn't go Chapter 13. I would NOT refinance your house. I did that and still went BK later, only now I'm paying off the refinance part. Bad idea. I could be more or less debt free right now if I hadn't done that.
