I bought a panasonic phone that blocks calls from 30 numbers, that, plus the 12 I could block with my phone company pretty much took care of the calls. They just got a single ring then a busy signal. The phone does ring one short ring, but then stops, so not too bad, really. Every now and again they'd change numbers, so I had to update the list every couple of weeks. It worked for the four months or so until we were ready to file.

i have to ask why the concern because of a lawsuit? if these are cc's then they can be included in a BK regardless right? (understand there are exceptions to that also)
Unless your worried about garnishment? - then i understand if your not garnishment proof.
new to bk stuff.... thanks in advance

One may be garnishment, although in the time frame discussed here I think that would be nearly impossible. Two, however, is that is you do get a judgement, from what I've read becomes a lot of extra work. You have to file a motion to vacate it due to BK, plus you have a lot of extra work cleaning up credit repot. That's my understanding, which would make sense...the practical approach, less work, better.Stopped paying: 08/10, Filed CH7: 08/27/10 , 341 & No Asset Report: 10/6/10, Last day to object: 12/06/10, Discharged: 12/07/10, Closed: 12/08/10

Just an added headache to have to deal with. We're not totally garnishment proof. I have no income (or next to nothing anyway) -- and in FL, as head of the household, they can only garnish a portion of my husband's income, which wouldn't be much....but honestly, it's just the inconvience part of it and having one more thing to have to deal with. Things are just crazy enough around here as it is. You can set your clock by Citibank lately -- the phone rings at 8:02 every morning. I just ignored them all today since we had just talked to them yesterday but the phone drove me crazy.
I still say that silencing the ringer is a way to ensure some peace and quiet!Filed Chapter 7 on July 30, 2010

I hear ya! Citibank took awhile to start calling, but once they did, UGH!!
My ringer is on silent, but still have all the hangup messages on my answering machine. And my secondary number with all of them was my cell phone. I just hit ignore on that one cause I'm not answering from there - ever.04/01/10 - Hit rock bottom and knew we were going to have to file for bankruptcy and surrender our home. 12/14/10 - Filed Chapter 7, 02/09/11 - 341 Hearing, 04/14/11 -

I retained an attorney in April (I only paid half) and then paid the other half in June. The reason I retained him in April was because I couldn't take the phone calls anymore and once he became my attorney I could then answer the calls and give the creditors his information. All the calls immediately stopped. I was kind of freaked out by the silence! Towards the end of July, Citibank started calling again and I, once again, gave them the attorney information. I actually did not file until August 13th. They never called again and to this day I've had no calls. It is my opinion that once you've actually retained an attorney they understand that you are serious about the BK. They can then pound sand.Filed Chapter 7 on Friday the 13th!, 341 9/10/10 . That's kinda how I feel about it. It doesn't make sense to me that they would immediately sue when they hear you have retained an attorney. It's just a waste of money on their part. Not saying it hasn't happened, but it really doesn't make good business sense on their part.
I do have high balances on both cards, and even my attorney has said we may not be able to miss a lawsuit being filed in my timeframe, but she does feel that it won't be a big deal as there won't be enough time for it to get that far. It's just probably going to cost me a little more of fees with her -- ??? --- just guessing, don't really know.04/01/10 - Hit rock bottom and knew we were going to have to file for bankruptcy and surrender our home. 12/14/10 - Filed Chapter 7, 02/09/11 - 341 Hearing, 04/14/11 -
