    An odd question...Well maybe not

Here is my question. My father and I bought a house in Florida together around five years ago. Recently my father declared bankruptcy. Now he lives on the other side of the country and my wife and I live in the house witch we plan to keep and that I pay the mortgage on every month since we bought it. He is still on the mortgage and wants to stay on it. Will his bankruptcy effect my credit or will my paying the mortgage improve his credit?

    Thanks for any input

Did you co-sign the mortgage with him? Usually with secured or unsecured loan with multiple debtors co-signing, when one debtor files for bk, the others are responsible for the remaining debt. If you don't miss any payment on the mortgage or if your payments aren't late, then I think your credit won't be affected.
