I go name brand on cheese, LOL. The cheap stuff is no good and when I'm eating it 5 days a week, I choose to be picky! I like Borden, though Kraft will do. It's usually around $2.50-$3 for a package of 24 slices. And now that I think of it, that will go 2 weeks.

i dont think you really know how much you spend on food.

do you realize you are trying to tell me that a family of 5 is $125 a week?

      thats $17.85 a day.

thats $3.57 each for food each day.

thats $1.19 including tax for each meal per person.

and you cant make a gallon of milk last a week on 5 people that all like milk. what do you do sniff it? or drink it?

I went back & checked for typos, found none. I clearly said that DH & I don't drink alot of milk. The kids are the main ones who do-primarily w/ breakfast.

And how could I spend more than I think I do? I would notice the money gone from our checking account if I went sleep-shopping! I'll save my receipts for you if you really want me to.

Ps-problems in your math, my dear Bkfiler.

2 of the kids eat lunch at school-that is 10 meals per week. Dh doesn't eat 3 meals a day.

The kids are all very healthy. My girls are petite, but they always have been. The 4 year old is in 3T clothing, and the 5 year old is in 4's. (And she'll be 6 next month.) My 7 year old is pretty typical for his age.

Dh & I, we could stand to lose a few pounds!

I RARELY get mad-but I like a good challenge. Good thing too-because high blood pressure runs in my mom's family, I'm a lazy person by nature, and eat alot of salt on my food. Yet my blood pressure is on the low side of normal.

I went back and marked for you where I'd commented on how the weekly $ number does not include the school lunches, and where I commented that DH doesn't eat 3 meals a day. Sometimes, he'll only eat one BIG meal.

Ps-I'm just glad you spelled my name right.

Staci, I do believe you when you say you spend so little on food. I have my own ways of eating VERY cheaply. Save-A-Lot grovery store is wonderful. However, I do see where BKfiler is coming from too. Granted, I'm a bigger guy. 6' 215 lbs, but I use at least half a jar of spaghetti sauce for a single meal for just myself. So it does seem hard to believe that the 5 of you can do it with just half a jar. Not calling you a liar like BKF, but I do see where some of his disbelief comes from.

ok in all honesty, i know staci tracks number well so i am just playing with here. but it is way too cheap. there is somehting we are missing and school lunches and her boyfriends $5 stripper buffet every night is a big savings.

I realize things would be different if the kids were older. My girls do not eat adult sized portions, and I can buy plenty of cheap & easy things for them. Of course-they do get vitamins (not out of the grocery budget, LOL) as I realize it isn't the healthiest of diets.

How much spaghetti do you eat with your sauce, LOL. I tend to put a few tablespoons on a plateful. Never cared for a heavy amount of sauce. (And the kids are still in the phase where eating is messy-they each get enough to just coat the noodles!)

Bkfiler-you're gonna get yourself in trouble. I might just have to find someone who is resourceful enough to hunt you down so I can teach you how to go grocery shopping.
