When I was let go from my job in November'09 I surrendered my Amex corp card. This was a company card billed to my home address. I was pretty sure that there were no balances on it when surrendered? I did not include this in my petition as it was a corp card and surrendered.
A week before discharge I get an email saying "my account is now ready for viewing." I hadn't received an email/call from these folks in 7 months or so. I ignored the first notice but the second one I received post discharge got me curious so I looked at it on line. It says cancelled but I owe $18.
Whatever charges were on it apparently were incurred before Jan 2010. I made an online request to see the bills pre-January and I'll have them tomorrow.
My concern, born of neuroses, is that I can readily pay the $18 and sayonara but I don't trust these people. Is this a fishing expedition for more info, like account numbers, etc. I did discharge a rather hefty amount on my personal card, so I'm concerned about linkage and games. Call it paranoia, overly suspicious or otherwise. Anything to be concerned about if I just go ahead and pay the ransom?
