Also, I find coming here from time to time reminds me of where I came from so to speak when it comes to mismanaging money and I don't EVER want to forget where I've been.
I agree with all the reasons given, but need to make a confession. When I am depressed and things are tough. I come and read about people who are in worse shape than I am, and it makes me feel better to know that they are in worse shape but they are still fighting and so should I.

I stay on the board to "pay it forward". Bankruptcy is emotionally draining, confusing, and complex. I received a lot of help on this board, and I want to give back by sticking around. I also want to put my story out there for people searching google looking for help so that they can sift through all the lawyer-ads and garbage and find relevant case histories that are similar to their own.

I took a long break from this board shortly after my discharge. I needed it. I needed to get away from all things bankruptcy, which really isn't entirely possible, but I had a nice rest.

I came back recently to, as someone said, pay it forward. And it's nice to see that there are still some familiar faces...er...avatars here.

It's also good to remember what I came out from only a short time ago so that I never go there again.

I'll have my shoes now please.

I'm still here because 6 months after filing, having endured a UST audit and in receipt of a report of no distribution. I still don't have the %!^!^ discharge. Lawyer says any day - can't come soon enough

I still come here because it's a huge comfort to me. It's just a place I can come where there are other people just like me. I don't yet feel comfortable giving advice to anyone. But maybe the time will come that I can help someone like this forum has helped me. I'm also not discharged yet and me being the worrier that I am I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop in the month I have left

I'm still here because I work for Obama and am watching out for troublemakers and other conservatives. There are still too many empty cots at the FEMA camps.

I told the management to forget the points for shoes program once I found out I couldn't buy liquor with my points. I already own a pair of shoes. This explains why I only have 900 posts in 3+ years.

If everyone just took off after discharge there wouldn't be anyone around to help those currently going through BK.

I've been here for a little while but haven't filed BK yet -- hope to do that in the next several months.

But even after I'm discharged, I will probably stick around for a while because in my private life, there are only a couple of people who I can discuss this with. It's a huge burden and when I need to vent or ask a question, this is a safe place.

the stress I had during my filing was unbearable. questions after questions, people here helped me. I learned a lot from them and through the process. And everyday, there's a new person as confused as I was from the beginning. I might feel better if I can answer simple questions of theirs.
This Forum is better than any lawyer I met.

The discharge is not the end of it but rather just a milestone. I learned so much information here that I was able to "plan" my bankruptcy. I owe this community and I like this community. My credit score is 621. I discharged a lot of debt and I'm well on the road to a recovery that I could not have done without the advice I found right here.
