How do creditors find out where you work? Someone told me it was because your place of employment can be found through your tax returns when filed, but is that right?

Despite popular myth, tax records, directly, are not generally available.
The most common method is your credit report, any time you apply for major credit, "car loan", "mortgage" etc, you must provide your employer and that information goes on your credit report.
But there are other ways to find out, but if you have been moving around a lot, it can very difficult for creditors to find.
