Hello,
Well, I think that I can say that we have found the lawyer that will spearhead our Chapter 7. Today we decided that we would visit the offices of several attorneys. The idea was to show up in person and see how they would treat us and set up an appointment for a free consultation. Well, the first attorney's office we visited was quite a surprise. I do not know if others have had a similar experience but the minute we walked in, the person who we met had not one ounce of courtesy. He was abrupt and dry, bordering on rudeness. We were taken back and as we were leaving we looked at each other and laughed about it.... Are we not the ones hiring them to represent us? it sure felt as if he was doing us a favor! Well, it was our second visit that proved to be a winner. I have read in this forum that you will know when you find the right match... is true.... the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile and moments later we were sitting in the conference room discussing our situation. The first thing he said to us after a brief introduction was that he would listen to our situation and he would follow up with questions of his own. What? you are going to listen to us first? By the end of our consultation we realized that this particular lawyer would be open to problem solve right along with us instead of treating us as if he knew better. Another thing that impress us is that he did not try to push for a Chapter 13 (more$$$). Later on after leaving,we sat down to talk about it...... we realized how important it was for us to feel confident, and comfortable with whomever we chose to represent us. It is true that time will tell if we made the right choice. He may not be the best lawyer in town but considering the stress and emotional beating that awaits us we will settle for one that we can work with.
I hope that my sharing this with you guys helps those of you that are looking for the "right" lawyer to walk you through the hot coals of bankruptcy.
Good luck to all
