    Checking Account Question

I am getting ready to file Chapter 13. I had a corporate checking account under my company's name with (Chase) a credit card (Chase) was taking out automatic payments. I did not have the money in the account to cover the $400.00 cc payment. The bank paid the cc bill and I did not have the money to put back in the account. I am really suprised that they would do that I did not have an overdraft on the account. The bank closed the account.

I have a personal checking account with Chase bank. I have been told to put my money in another bank b/c the credit card was with Chase and they might try to take my money once I file. I have not paid my credit card since February.

Will I have a problem opening a personal checking account with another bank, since I have bounced a payment on a corporate checking account and not paid the money back yet?

It's not that I don't want to pay them back. I just don''t have the money right now. I am just so afraid of being embarrassed at another bank.

if chase reported the account to CHEXSYSTEMS then u probably will have a tough time opening another account.
if i was u i would just pick a bank and apply.
worst case scenario u will be denied
    better sooner than later

If you'd be embarrassed sitting in the bank and being told you don't qualify for a new checking account then apply online. Almost all the big banks allow for applying for a new account online. Then if you do get turned down, it won't be embarrassing.

Just don't apply at any bank that you have a loan with.

Try WoodForest Bank. They have branches in Texas, IL, and some other states. If you are already reported to Chexsystems, they will take you anyway, but charge a $9.95 fee per month.

These type of banks are known as "Second Chance Banks"...

Try a credit union in your area.

Thank you everyone for your feed back. I opened a new checking account on-line with BOA and I was approved. After the advice I researched Banks that do not use Chexsystems. I am very grateful for the advice. Only 80% of banks use them. That means that 20% don't. They are considered 2nd chance Banks.
