Trying to do the Christian Thing...

All righty, I promised JustBroke, and by extension, all of you, what happened to me/us today.

‘Hub and I had a meeting this morning. That said and done, we went to meet another colleague at a local watering hole. A nice time was had by all. During this time, ‘Hub voiced his wish to meet up with Enemy2, shake his hand and express our desires that all of the past nine years is over and done with, and let us start from this day forward. The colleague thought that would be well.

As we got up to leave the establishment, Enemy3 came in (an attorney moonlighting as a musician—that had represented the principal Enemy1, before Enemy1 got crowned as the KING of ALL FOOLS on April 1, 2009)

So I thought I would practice this bit of Christian principle. I approached the person, stuck out my hand and greeted him in a friendly manner, saying that after everything over the years, we held no ill will and wished to start over again.

He DID shake my hand, but he said that it was NOT over for him, as he had more than 30K involved in our case and that he would hold us to it.

I thought, EXCUSE ME? I shut my mouth being both non-plussed, and thinking, ‘what the hell?’ AND remembering the axiom: “Keep your mouth shut and you won’t be caught!”

So, said Enemy3 expects us to settle with him for what he thinks is his due. CHUFT!! He is not the litigant, and is not even now the original litigant’s attorney, so he is doubly p-od.

It is our opinion that this ex attorney needs to persue his own client for any moneys owed him, as the case that his client brought against us, was never pursued, nor was his AP against our BK.

So, just curious, what do you think?

    Malevolent. Spite. Animus.

It's that simple. Some people do actually hold a grudge. Some people, even when they have clearly been shown that their thought process is fallible, incorrect and just plain wrong... continue to believe everyone else is wrong. We can't change these people, but we can continue to show them that we hold no such animosity.

I hope you two are feeling better. You reached out to them and they snapped at you. I don't even see where their debts wasn't discharged in your bankruptcy. Fun times ahead... as I think there is going to be more drama. You two don't deserve that.

As I continually remind my kids, "You can't control what other people think, so stop trying." You are responsible for what's in your head, don't let other people control your thoughts.

I admire your desire to try to reach some sort of "normalization" with these people, but as some point you have to move on, knowing you did everything you could to settle things.

She may be hurt but she knows that in her heart you guys did the right thing. You're good with GOD so let the rest of them be miserable the rest of their lives- you did your part and can hold your heads high.

You need to fill in the details, Angelina. What's this all about? Enemy # 1? #2
#3 etc.? An attorney moonlighting as a musician?
Pay no attention to anything I post. I graduated last in my class from a fly-by-night law school that no longer exists; I never studied or went to class; and I only post on internet forums when I'm too drunk to crawl away from the computer.

I remember talking with Hub thru PM about this awhile back, and from what I know these people aren't worth losing one thought over....or tear for that matter. We who are what I would call "good hearted" people were brought up to try and make the peace whenever we can, I have learned some people just aren't wired that way...so in the end...what goes around comes around...they will be judged someday

May I respond? Enemy #1 is a multi millionaire cracked-pot we offended. He chose to pick us as his "grasshopper" to pull the legs off one by one.

Enemy #2 is a sergeant detective on the police force. He who had befriended Enemy#1.

Enemy #3 is a lawyer paid through school by Enemy #1.

Guess what, on a FORUM #1 outed a gay female couple by name. Our friends. We are not gay, but we have no problem with those who are.

This 'snowballed' into a complaint that Number #2 financed by Number #1 caused a lawsuit. It is so lengthy as that I cannot put it down here, but we were framed. We had FDLE, FBI, PD, and Sheriff where involved. No one was arrested but three jobs were lost, health insurance lost, Big C and then bk.

Number #1 was struck down by God on April 1, 2009, and is from what I have heard, a veg.

Number #2 lost his career and almost went to perjury trial. Was let go by D.A.

Number #3 thought he had a case but didn't take it to trial. NINE YEARS.

Well, all in all, FBI was ordered off the property attempting a verbal acknowledgment of guilt. FDLE, bailed out with bad evidence tainted by fraud.

We lost a quarter million dollars in lawyers and health fees, driving us to bk.

And to date are Free and happier than when we owned ten mil in land that before all this we donated with life estate for a Park for the Public here in FL.

We could not be happier. Karma, or God you name it, right is right.

                      Cannot tell more here.

Musician was enemy #3, Mrs. attempted to "forgive". He gave her the fact that she could "settle" for 30K as he didn't consider it over. Yet, he stated #1 was "out of it" (spaced). So I assume he meant we owe him money on his clients behalf, who did not take us to trial or paid him. LOL. Even I know better as why would I pay my adversary's lawyer fees for something he did not do on his clients behalf. It actually made Mrs. cry as her good intentions got her a verbal 'middle finger'. Thank you Overmylimit, for your observations. I know I did the 'right thing'. But I guess I am still so 'innocent' and 'naive' in dealing with people that I guess I get kicked in the face, no matter what I do.

                        Thanks,

Mrs. Cat, all I know for sure is that if you tried to do the right thing, then that is enough. The blood is washed from your hands. Their hands however, remain dirty.

And the other thing I know for sure is that Mrs. Karma is a real beach.

                              Mrs. Cat,
You did a good and honorable thing to address the person involved and try to put the issue in the past so you can all move on. #3 acted dishonorably (and, if he's a lawyer, possibly in violation of ethical rules if he knows that whatever debt is at issue was discharged in bankruptcy and nevertheless tried to collect it).

It took me a long time, but I finally understand that I only have control over my own reactions to things, and that the reactions of others are their own concern. You should be proud of yourself for acting honorably by extending yourself, that # 3 behaved badly is his own problem and does not diminish the fact that you acted maturely in reaching out to him.
