    Interesting case

I have a friend who left behind a debt and went to South America to live for good, and has no intentions of coming back to the States. He is a U.S citizen last lived in NJ but left a forwarding address in Florida. He would like to file for bankruptcy to clear his debts in case he returns sometime in the future, what address should he use for bankruptcy!! South America?Florida? NJ ?and by the way , he has been out of the country for 2 years. and what is the deadline for him to file his taxes ? Is it April 15? or June 30?

Thank you fellows for whatever info you may provide for this poor soul.

April 15 is the tax deadline.

If he does not have a legal residence in the US, then I don't think he'll be able to file... Must live in a state for 91 of the last 180 days in order to file there.
Get mortgage modified: DONE! 7 months of back interest payments amortized, payment reduced over $200/mo
(In the 'planning' stage, to file ch. 13 if/when we have to.)

That seems to refer to people living in the US with bank accounts in other countries.

Assuming he earned income while he was living in the US in 2009, that tax deadline was April 15th.
