I ran across past threads stating that Wells Fargo will not reaffirm loans - although the thread was regarding a mortgage - and I'm just wondering what other's experiences are with this. We are filing in about six months and just purchased this vehicle -- keeping it, making payments, no intentions at all of losing it - just wanted a vehicle that we knew would last us through the lean post bankruptcy years. Our loan is through Wells Fargo. What are the implications of this? Should we try to get it refinanced through someone else? Local credit union? If we're going to keep the payments current anyway, does it really matter? I'm just worried about them taking the car back. I would LIKE to reaffirm the loan since, if I understand this correctly, they keep reporting your on time payments to hopefully help our credit score recover faster. Would like to be able to purchase another house as soon as we possibly can after we get through all this mess and need that credit score SOLELY for that reason --- have ZERO interest in credit cards in my life again!

Originally posted by Mi Bankruptcy View PostWe had a vehicle we had been paying on for about 3 years that was financed through Wells Fargo. It was a SUV. We reaffirmed the debt and they lowed our rate and monthly payments to reaffirm. We didn't even ask.
At that time WF said they couldn't do anything for me because I owed more on the car than it was worth.
Fast forward to now. I filed BK and three weeks later WF comes back with a very nice offer to lower my interest rate, cut my payments by $130 mo., and knock $3000 off what I owe on the loan.
Great, but where the heck was this offer three months ago?!! I still would have had to file, but I can't figure that one out. Did WF think I was bluffing in February?

Thanks guys. I'm just gonna leave it - so tired of all this pre-planning stage. I know I'll be glad when we get to filing and hopefully everything is in order, but this is driving me nuts!04/01/10 - Hit rock bottom and knew we were going to have to file for bankruptcy and surrender our home. 12/14/10 - Filed Chapter 7, 02/09/11 - 341 Hearing, 04/14/11 -
