How long after filing is it posted to the public?

How long after you file is the BK info posted in the newspaper? What does it normally say?

Whether it's posted in the newspaper or not is a local media issue. Why worry what it says? It doesn't change anything. If you're worried about your name in the paper, it's usually in the business section and only nosy neighbors read that.

It is actually immediately public and available through a computer system called PACER which is available on the Internet. However, it is not "publicly" searchable so won't show up in a Google or Yahoo! search... unless you have a case where caselaw is made due to some specific item being litigated.

Just don't worry about it.

Everything you post on this forum is googled though, and pretty darn quickly (like within minutes or hours). Do you have any idea how many times I ran across justbroke responses when I was googling a question? He's pretty often in the top 10. Cool, huh?

I wasn't counting until the third or fourth time it happened. Well. I'm still not counting, but definitely mentioning. It happens a lot! lol!

I'm not worried about people seeing it but I have been receiving a lot of random letters from people wanting to sell me a car or other crap after my bankruptcy and I was wondering if maybe they saw our info in the newspaper? Is my address is posted with the notice? I just filled a couple weeks ago and have not been to the 341 yet.

Oh yeah, data miners, combing PACER for contact info. You betcha. There are lots of posts from people on here getting marketing offers for credit right after they filed BK.

Nope! You can subscribe to Bankruptcy Notifications and this information is also posted to all the major credit bureaus which also offer automatic notification.

That makes sense, I was just wondering if they posted our actual address or if they were just e-stalking us to get the info.
