    Question bank account IIB

    Good Morning,

I have paid my lawyer in full and will be filing this week chpt.7. My question is,I have a checking account with Citi that has an overdraft credit line that will be IIB.The account is overdrawn $15.00
Should I make it current, also can I close this account to avoid further
$15.00 monthly maintenence fees.I opened an account at another bank that I have been using to pay my bills with 6 months ago and will use from now on.

    -thanks in advance-

From my experience, your bank should have stopped charging you fees the day you had file. I would double-check to make sure your bank is listed in your petition as a creditor. The fact that they are still charging you fees makes me question if they had been notified of your bankruptcy. I would definitely have a conversation with your lawyer sometime before before your 341 this Thursday.

I had also include a checking account in my bankruptcy. It was overdrawn over $900, due to a payday loan and bank fees. On my next (and final) bank statement after I had filed, it showed the charges removed and my balance was zero. That is where my insight comes from.

As far an making it current, I wouldn't bother now. Since it is IIB, it will likely get discharged. So there is no point in putting any more money into that account.

Like I've said, this is from what I've experienced, I am no expert at all. Definitely talk to your lawyer.

      I hope this helps you.
