I didn't have to be present to close out a joint accounted owned by me and my husband and I took my mom to close out a joint account today that she had with my dad and he did not have to be present.

this may sound dumb.........But when closing out a checking account
must both husband and wife be present?
Only one person named on the account has to be present. Just went through this as I closed down all of our checking accounts at one bank and opened up at a new bank. I did this under the advice of our lawyer.
