    Been thinking about chap 13, but also thinking about just not paying the credit cards all my income is exempt. What happens in that case?

    They could put a lien against any vehicle or home you own.
    May 31st, 2007: Petition Filed by my lawyer
    July 2nd, 2007: 341 Meeting Held
    September 4th, 2007: Discharged and Closed.

      Phone calls (possibly to family and neighbors if you don't answer), letters, lawsuits, judgements, levy of bank accounts, liens placed on property.

      Basically, income exempt or not it can become one giant pain. Always something to deal with and never any relief. The balances will continue to haunt you forever.

      Chapter 13 and you are out of debt in less than 5 years. As soon as your file its just more peaceful.... no calls, no mail, no worry of what will happen next.

          I just want to thank you for posting this because I forgot about this part of my life. This was so frustrating and painful because I was really watching every single penny at this point (should've been doing it all along) and they were NAILING me with stupid little fees. The late fee put me over the limit and so I got an over the limit fee. INSANE! I have told my husband to load the gun if I ever THOUGHT about getting another credit card.
