I initially went through legalhelpers pc for my over-the-phone consultation and am scheduled to meet with them this coming Monday. I've been horribly stressed lately and it only occurred to me today to read up on their business. As many here have mentioned, some of their cases haven't gone exceptionally well. I located another firm based in Chicago but with a branch in Grayslake, not far from my home, Robert Adams & Associates. They don't have much information on their website but I do want to talk to a few different attorneys before deciding to go with one. Is there anyone on the forum that has some experience with this firm, or can perhaps recommend another one, based on a good experience?

Lake County IL BK lawyer?

I don't think we are supposed to name firms and attorneys here. I will say that after lots of sleepless nights and worrying about who to chose, this site and everyone posting provided lots of guidance on how to pick the right attorney. I interviewed and filed Ch. 7 last month, and have my 341 meeting in 2 weeks (I can't believe how the last 4 has flown by! And the phone has stopped ringing from creditor calls!). The firm I chose is in the Lake County area, and has offices there and in Chicago, and also represents Southern Wisconsin (really easy to figure out if you google a bit). I really liked them, and have been happy so far (but it ain't over yet). The senior/name partner is also a trustee, which is one of the reasons I chose them (based on suggestions here). However, I didn't speak with him, I spoke with another attorney in the firm who has very good creds, was very thorough, open, and helpful. The person who did my forms was somewhat "junior", like a new associate, and I felt like I was having to re-explain everything when we reviewed the forms prior to filing (in fact there was a potential screw-up that I averted by just asking to speak to the other attorney and getting it straightened out). It really paid to have scoured this site for every bit of info and knowledge I could get before I finally spoke with anyone or filed, because I was well-versed in alot when we finally sat down. That having been said, I still had a lot of questions, but they seemed to answer them thoroughly. Any questions I have had since then, have been responded to the same day I emailed them. I have since learned that the top attorney/trustee only handles the complicated cases, and mine is a pretty straight-forward no-asset case. So that's just my 2 cents, and my experience so far. I am sure you can find a lot more info and answers here, and plenty of people here from your area who can relate their own experiences with who they chose to file for them.
