I would suggest everyone sign up and post about your particular situation. We have been there I guarantee it. There are also a few resident Attorneys that stop by from time to time. We are all friends here and are here to help.

I have managed to learn by reading.

As to unwanted phone calls- I admit I am me- then quietly set the phone down... for the day. lol. There is nothing I can say. This started 3 years ago- with the lady who lost this house- then the person who once had the phone number- and now me. So we are ALL HERE. Happily I am me- I gently set the phone down and go about my day.'
    Discharged- pro se- chapter 7~!

I think the drastic increase in rates and min payments has taken it's toll. Most can't pay and some are just fed up.

Yes. This is what finally pushed us over the edge. We were hanging on by a thread making min. payments, and when the interest rates were raised--or min. payments raised, it just pushed us over the cliff.

It probably would have happened eventually though.

I've been lurking a while and finally registered a week or so ago. This is a great forum and filled with tons of information! I've managed to find answers to most of my questions using the search function. Which, for the people who have not signed up yet, it's much easier to use once your registered.

                  Where to start.........

Filed Chapter 13 back in May of 2008 because of a job loss and mortgage company foreclosing. It has been a struggle ever since. I did manage to get a loan mod after 2 years and 5 sale dates (stay Lifted) but now I find out, (thanks to this site) that my attorney did not file a lien strip for the second and it's too late to file one now. The attorney said that the CMA that I gave him didn't indicate that my house was underwater. Please, only by about $145,000 but it gets better, I was laid off again and now have to figure out how I am going to fund a 13 on unemployment. I am in the IE where unemployment, I believe, is at about 15 -17%. I really need to get a second opinion on my options because I am loosing faith in my attorney because they just seem to want to keep me in a 13 at all costs (to me). I am meeting with an assistant next week to try and figure out how they can keep me in a 13. I only have 1 cc and student loans in my plan. The only reason I filed was because of the house. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in!

You truly need to figure out whether or not you can really afford to keep your house...your entire situation is based on that...best of luck to you!

The economy has been a house of cards for many years. When the gubmint can run the printing press 24/7 with no accountability, there's bound to be problems. Sort of like taxing your way to prosperity or spending your way out of debt.

This hasn't started under the current president, he's just speeding the process along quiet nicely.

This site has been a great source of information. I just saw on CNN News today that personal bankruptcy for the 3rd Qtr of 2009 are up 33%, not sure if that has something to do with it.
