Just some info about our BK for those wondering

So our 341 meeting was 8/28/09 here in the DFW area. I just got the discharge letter this week, discharged on 10/28/09. Granted ours was a very straight forward case. Mine and the wife's credit scores are currently in the 622 to 650 area with the BK showing. Scores were at and around 700 before filing, we were current on everything. The pre-approved CC offers started coming in 3 or 4 weeks ago. This week I got one from Capital One stating "we know your working hard to start over, blah, blah, blah." So I put in the codes to apply online, it was approved. Before you say it.....trust me, it will not be used except to buy dinner once in a while to build up the reports again.

So, all in all I have been very suprised. Now who knows what will happen when we go to buy a home again in a year and a half or so, but right now things don't look that bad.

Great news! I am glad things are much better for you now. I guess I am still in that "mad as heck" stage over all of the economic and medical mess our great nation is having. I don't ever want another credit card, and I could care less about my credit score. lol Perhaps I will get over that anger. At one time my credit score was almost 800! I was so happy, never realizing that credit is no way to live. My first card made sense to me, you use it only for security reasons, like you do not want to travel with cash, then pay it off as soon as you get home. I always knew what I owed. But once I bought a home and the payments were for 30 years and cars went from 3 years to 5 and 7, I think I was numb to what I really owed. I was upset because in the begining of this mess we had 60,000 in cash! But, we owed a ton on our home and cars. The economy started our downturn, and then the medcial which I do blame on the economy. Either way, I would prefer to live in a little place, walk or bike to work, and live in AZ again. I am not sure that I will ever get home again though at my age. Good luck to you.. I am sure you will be very careful with that card!!
