No Deposit Required By Utility Company?

I just received my first post bk statement from my gas/electric company. This company was included in my bk. The statement did not mention anything about a security deposit being required. It just was a normal bill like I received prior to bk. Does a security depost letter usually come seperate from a statement? I would think that if a deposit was required it would listed in the statement.

...speaking of utilities a new law in PA (2004?) now makes it easier for them to cut off service real fast.

Um they usually tell you that when you signed up. I didn't think they require it later on even if you filed.

I was "venting" about this on another thread. If u recall I was shocked to receive in the mail my notice for a deposit by 11-12-09 or my electric would be shut off. I think each company is different in how they handle bankruptcies. Havent heard a peep out of other utilities yet and hope not too. What a stupid rule.. I could see if I owed them a ton of money ....I will pay it on Friday when I get paid and hope to get it back in a year with interest .....Guess will have to live on rice & beans again for 2 weeks

We got hit with paying a deposit to our electric company because we had fallen behind in our payments. This was BEFORE we filed. I also told this story on the thread klandsb 'vented' on. And the fact that this deposit was treated as an Asset in our BK and it was one of the Assets we bought back.
