I had to call my electric/gas company after I received a shutoff notice 2.5 weeks after filing. They told me to disregard the shutoff notice and a new statement will go out for my new account. I still have not received the new statement and am curious as to how much my deposit will be.

I have heard of this, quite often in fact, among my circle of friends and associates.
There is nothing to prevent utilities, or anyone you have ongoing service agreements with. The same idea can even apply to phones, cable, cell phones, water delivery, propane or heating fuel, and so on.
It is a rough world, and vultures are lurking behind the door, awaiting opportunities to pick at the bones.11-20-09-- Filed Chapter 7

It gets better:
Just an update to this crazy story. So I look at pacer and find that the only person "so far" that has filed a claim is guess who " Duquesne Light". Ok, so I call and they tell me that when they finaled my account the bill for the time frame from my last bill was $ 84.00 so now they have filed a claim for that amount.. Seriously they filed a claim for that !!!!!!!!!Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones

My new venting issue
So today I go to my new bank to get a cashiers check to send in my first pmt.. I tell the teller I need a cashiers check...She says they dont have cashiers checks but they have this other thing that is just like a cashiers check... She says that will be $ 5.00..
Ok I know $ 5.00 isnt alot of money but really they charge for them when I bank there... No fringe benefits there I guess !!Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones

Because many banks are now offering "free" accounts, they get their money in service fees. Most banks issues "bank checks" which are just like money orders. I always have at least one "premium" account so that I don't pay fees for things like bank checks. If you only need a money order, try the Post Office. Postal Money Orders are widely accepted and cost $1.10 to $1.30 depending on amount.Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
