    Appointment with Attorney Tomorrow

    What Questions should I ask?

I have a general list but any input would be great.

    Thanks

    Ask these:

Do my expenses and income mean a chapter 13 or 7? If they suggest 13, make sure you consult a few more, it may not be true. They get paid far more in a 13.

Ask how many times you can meet the attorney (not a paralegal) for serious questions. Then do NOT waste their time. Collect your concerns on a tablet over a few weeks or days and present them all in one session. Attorneys hate having to personally answer the same questions over and over, especialy obvious ones.

Ask about their experience. How many BK's have they handled? Be wary of the number is too high. Or too low. There is no right number, you want someone who has the experience for the job, but not someone who stuffs em into the court system at a rate of a hundred a week.

Ask them why THEY are particularly of value to YOU. You are still the customer, and deserve and expect a certain level of expertise and service.

First off, thanks for the tips!

Went to the lawyer today. First off asked fees, 1500 for a chapter 7, 3000 for a 13. Seem resonable?

She said we might qualify for 7, but with income over the means test, with unemployment counting, she wasn't sure.

She also advised us to wait 3-6 months before filing to clear some purchases and to see if our situation changes.

Overall I seem to have an ok Feeling about her, she was very matter of fact.

You have to really go over the means test with them. You could have deductions that can be used if you were self employed, and your debt level matters too. There are some really well informed people on here that will really work to help you out! Good luck
