My wife and I are filling out our paperwork I hoped someone would answer before I head into BK court. We recieve Title IV subsidy for handicapped children we adopted. I have been told to list it but then I see it is consider like "welfare" since ti is used for the childrens extra expenses and is not considered income (it is alos non taxable) Any thoughts on this.

Thanks...I just hate having to file but we are just not getting back on our feet after losing half our income last year and creditors just decided to come out of the woodwork and got sues 4 times in one week.......

File ASAP if you got summons or at the least respond to the summons.

There is no shame and legally the money to your child may be called welfare, however, you are doing a wonderful thing taking upon yourself a handicapped child. Yes list it and if the Trustee attacks it, he's not a very good person. Most of them are normal people who will understand. I wish you and family well. 'Hub

that money will blast us out of the water though for Chapter 7. IF the trustee refuses to let us file chapter 7 I am just not sure about chapter 13 and if it will burden us with a payment I can barely afford there also. This just sucks!!
