    Couple questions....

I've got an appt with an attorney for consultation in a week, so in the meantime, have a few questions.

One, if I file BK in the state of CA, (13, possibly 7) will our employers know? I wouldn't care really, but my wife would be mortified. (she doesn't work for the state or city)

I currently am working a 2nd job to help with our tax bill, and try to put some money away. I'm going to quit it soon, I hate being away from my family, and it wears on me. (I did it for a couple years once, and it really affected my health, my sanity, and my marriage, but you do what you have to)
Should I talk to them about "laying me off?" Would that look better? Should I have it happen sooner than later? Would it have any effect on the BK?

I have other questions, and obviously will voice all I can with the attorney, but in the meantime, just curious. I think I'm just looking for any excuse to quit my second job, because I hate it with a passion.

In the end, working too many hours affects your health and your family life. See if the attorney thinks you should quit or have them lay you off. Don't think it will make much difference since you are still showing your income from your regular job.

Your employers will not know a thing. I think the only time they would know if you were applying for a new job and they did a background check on you or had to have a security clearance on you. Something like that.

If you file 13 and the court requires payroll deduction, then the employer would be notified (payroll dept.). Other than that, there is no reason for an employer to know of your BK.
