    How do you feel now?

I filed nearly two months ago and I ended October finally ended October with $64.95 left over. Before I filed, I would be behind at least $500.00 and have rob peter to pay paul and juggle the whole month.

I no longer feel guilty or like a failure for filing, because it was what I had to do. How are you all doing after filing?

There have been absolutely 0 Chapter 13 or Chapter 7 filings since the new law took effect here.

Well, I wish I could feel the relief you are feeling.... but I do expect it in time. I am still playing "catch up" and hope to be caught up by the end of the month. But the lawyer fee, in itself, put such a burden on my already stressed situation.

We go to the meeting with the trustee on Thursday so I'm a little stressed right now about the unknown but I have to say that for the first time I can look at the months bills without having a panic attack because we'll be able to pay them and eat too.

I feel if anyone should feel guilty it is some of these creditors... like one of mine for example. I had a $12,000 personal loan. Got it down to $9,000 before I had to stop making payments due to financial issues. A year and a half later the balance was up to $21,000 after all the creditors interest, late fees, and whatever fees... This should be illegal!

If I lend someone $5,000 and try to sue them a year later for $10,000 it would get tossed out of court and the judge would cry usery. But yet if you are a big corporation with billions of dollars it is legal for you to do it...

America... land of the "if you got enough money you can get away with anything!"

So I'm not feeling guilty at all...

I filed 10/13 after working on it and fretting over it for 2 1/2 months.
Yes, I am on medical disability leave and my salary was cut by more than
          50%.
Yes, things got crazy and mixed up with all if the illness we have had and I
was late with a couple of cc pyments and they raised most of my cc's from
          around 10% to 30%
Yes, I paid the IRS more than $70,000 over the last 8 years on a $39,000
          debt.
Yes, I know that there was no alternative.
Yes, I know that is is my constitutional reight to a fresh start...

And yes, after the initial excitement that all of the work had been completed and that we had filed, I have felt absolutely miserable. A failure of colossal proportions. (Guess that's ego for you...I can't believe that I'm a normal failure). Well, you asked and that's how I feel. Art

I felt relief right away as my attorney found other areas I did not have to pay and that would qualify for BK. I am no longer a regular at the Pay Day loan sharks. My wallet fits more easily into my purse as it is completely empty of cc, let's see, yes, I get scared when I see I am running out of money a few days before payday, but I no longer feel the fear and guilt of writing a check on Friday and praying I can get my paycheck to the bank before the written check goes through, knowing all the while that it is illegal and I have basically written a "bad" check. Now that feels good, not having fo feel all that fear and guilt. I just don' even write checks anymore, cash only basis for awhile until I know I have completely broken some really bad habits.

                  90% relieved, 10% guilty.

I don't feel TOO bad about my credit cards since they've made enough on interest to MORE than cover the things I purchased, but I do feel bad that I couldn't pay the doctors that took care of me.

My surgeon, especially. He's a nice guy and even gave me a HUGE price break because I didn't have insurance. (Major surgery for $800 ... not bad!) I keep hoping I can come up with the rest of the money I owe him, even though technically it was erased in the bankruptcy.

                    I feel great!!

It's been two years since filing, 21 months since discharge.

Since I filed in Texas I moved to California and then overseas where I will be for 3-5 years. I am now living debt-free in an apartment (very nice) paid by my employer with car paid by them as well. They pay my gas, utilities, tolls and kick in extra money for the cost of living. Kids kids are in private school, again, paid for by my employer. I bumped my 401k to the max $14,000 per year, save $1000+ in my savings every month and live a sweet life with my family. We travel as we want and eat out when we feel like it.

I have since restarted my college education (online) with a major universty and am studying a new language.

I feel nothing for the credit card companies that were discharged in my BK. They made thousands every year off of me. NO MORE. I know have money in the bank and a very nice, stress free, life. Most of these changes were due to a job promotion and a willingness to move overseas for a while. If things keep going like this I may never move back.

One weird thing that is happening is that I maintained on CC through the BK. They had a zero balance at the time with a $10,000 limit. The have raised my limit to $13,500 but still keep my interest rate at 25%+. It does not matter much since I pay it off every month but it is still wierd.

I feel anxious. It isn't that I'm worried, or have any reason to be. Its just that I would like to fast forward and go ahead and get to the 'rest' of my life!

My good news for the weekend... Generally we budget about $225 for gas/electric. Got our power bills, its only $102. The gas bill comes a week later, and it was running around $35. It will be a little higher, as we've had to use the heat a little, but we've been used extra blankets and kept the thermostat around 65/66 at night, so it shouldn't be too much higher. I feel like we've 'found' money!
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

I'm feeling rather anxious as my 341 is tomorrow! But this past month has been the first where I was easily able to cover all my bills without juggling. That felt pretty good.

Anxious is the word for sure

I haven't paid a cc bill since 2001. I don't feel that guilty but just kind of stupid for ringing up $50K in card debt and can't even put my finger on what I spent it for, except for a trip to New Orleans in Dec. of 2000.

My 341 is tomorrow in Tampa, have my file ready to go and I am ANXIOUS!!!!!!
If it goes well, I will be ecstatic. I just really have no clue.

Definitely true. Checks no longer have to be physiccally transmitted to a bank. They can now post in as little as 1-3 hours after writing them. No more guaranteed float time. Art
