I just filed three months ago and I want to forewarn you about the student loans. We were approved to pay them outside of our ch13 plan. I was trucking along and making the payments but stopped getting statements from them. Last week I found out that my student loans were sold to a collection agency and that I am in default even though I made my payments. Apparently no one can talk with me about it since I am in an automatic stay after filing BK. What I am saying is that I recommend that you talk to your student loan company/ies right before/after you file and get them lined up to let you make payments to them with filing bankruptcy. Just please be careful; I'm trying to find someone at the collection agency now that will work with me to take my payments I am required to by my ch13 plan. After all, if payments aren't made, my interest will accrue the entire term on my ch13 plan.
