    The IRS contacts my attorney

No, I'm not in trouble for tax evasion....lol. If you file for bankruptcy and you include your taxes as priority debts, and your taxes are calculated incorrectly, well, you just created more work for yourself. I owe about 950 more in taxes than I thought. We had to redo the means test, payment plan and about 4 more documents and refile those documents.

I talked to the IRS lady and she was very polite and explained everything. Apparently the IRS checks some block when you file bk. If your filing does not have the IRS blessing you can have your case dismissed.

The nice lady also told me I did not file a tax return for the 2004 tax year. Thats when I flew off the handle. I calmly explained that I was in Iraq during the time that I should have filed. Well, that didn't cut it. I honestly thought I filed the tax return that year.

She was kind enough to send me the W-2 forms from 04 and avised me that I needed to file the tax return in the next 2 weeks.

I asked: 'Why are you telling me this almost 5 years after the missed filing?' She said the system flags you with a notification, and of course, no such notification was ever sent to me. I concluded with 'oh, I must not owe you, then...'

there are two things in life you cant avoid, and I am sure some of you can add some more. Those two things are:

      death and paying your taxes

Gotta love the IRS, but they should at least have said something after all these years. I guess it really doesnt matter unless you owe them or file for bankruptcy. I'm sure if I owed them they would not wait 5 years to remind me to file my return.

I'll be interested to see if I owe considering a few months in 04 were spent in a combat zone (tax exempt). I showed zero taxable income in 05, which is when I spent most of my time in Iraq

I talked to the IRS lady this morning to ask why the IRS has me paying more in the 2008 tax return. She said that there was an error in the calculations, but it was corrected. Okay, who corrected it? The IRS did. Okay, what was the correction? My dependent exemption info filed did not match what the SSN administration had, so the exemption was not allowed. Really, when were you going to tell me this? Well, we sent you a notification. Oh, okay, another notification I did not receive.

My advise to those who include your tax debts in your bk filing...personally double check with the IRS to make sure your numbers match their numbers
